Sarah Anderson

Has been a passionate collector of French faience since discovering Quimper in the late 1970’s.

ANSWER 1

I have a difficult time selecting favorites because I truly like lots of different things. Heart shaped items have long intrigued me, and over the years I’ve added to this group of heart shaped snuffs. They are the perfect petite piece to cradle in one’s hand.

ANSWER 2

As in selecting a favorite, there are many pieces with which I could never part, but the heart shaped inkwell in this group holds a special spot in my collection. It was a birthday gift from friends decades ago, and it is the piece that sparked my passion for collecting antique Quimper and other French faience.

ANSWER 3

Though I’ve rarely added anything to my collection in recent years, I returned home from the September QCI meeting with this dapper gentleman, a Desvres figural double-salt, purchased at the meeting sale.

Frances Remmes

Began collecting Quimper faience in 1983.

ANSWER 1

I don’t have a favorite pattern or design. If it has the Breton figures, I will love it and even if it doesn’t, I will still love it!

ANSWER 2

The piece I will never part with is the Lavabo. Living in earthquake country I worry most about this piece. When we go out of town, I take it off the wall and hope for the best.

The wall clock was my most recent purchase. I found this at an estate sale. It was the only piece of Quimper at the entire sale

Gay Smith

Lives in the UK and has been collecting for thirty years. She now focuses on contemporary artists but still loves her older pieces.

ANSWER 1

This decor by Brisson really appeals to me. My star sign is Pisces and I love things with a connection to the sea whether it’s jolly sailors with their ladies, or fish and marine life.

ANSWER 2

I would never get rid of these two little girls by Haffen. It was one of the first figural pieces I bought.
They are having a tussle and gave determined expressions on their faces. It reminds me of my sister and me, though in truth, we never argue.

ANSWER 3

The cache pot was the last thing I bought. It was in a lot in the auction at the Quimper meeting, which was terrific fun. As I had flown over, I was worried about getting it back to the UK but luckily Hugh and Jane Sayers gave it a lift in their car.
